Learning Objectives

  • Examine, apply and critique the main elements of effective procurement and tendering management
  • Undertake a systematic analysis of organisation expenditure and conduct en-depth market research of suppliers, products and markets
  • Propose a systematic framework of contractual value for money (VfM) negotiations and monitor compliance with VfM criteria
  • Present the principles of procurement value reporting and to outline different procurement key performance indicators (KPIs) that deliver value for the organisation and its stakedholders
  • Consolidate and leverage learning into a Strategic Procurement Plan to connect and align the overall strategy of the organisation and the different business units with day-to-day procurement activities

Delivery

Online workshops will be scheduled for a full day every second Friday. These workshops consist of lectures, individual and group activities, best practice processes, practical spreadsheet applications, and oral presentations. All modules are examined by continuous assessment with assignments submitted throughout the course. The programme operates by way of short intensive ‘sprints’ rather than a long distance race.

Eligibility Requirements

■ Candidates must hold a level 7 undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional qualification AND a minimum of two years’ buying, sourcing or comparable professional experience.

■ Non-graduates with at least three years’ professional experience in a relevant senior management role will also be considered for admission.

■ Candidates who are not currently employed may also apply should they meet the above criteria. However, in order to complete the assessments on this programme, such candidates will need to demonstrate that they have pre­ approved access to an organisation where they can conduct work-based research

■ Candidates must also have working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications

  • The programme team may seek to interview applicants in order to ascertain the appropriateness of their experience for this programme
  • English language requirement: all applicants whose first language is not English, must have attained an average of IELTS Level 6 across all elements of the test, with no element lower than 5.5 or the equivalent TOEFL score
  • Where students have prior accredited learning and on this basis seek exemptions from specific modules, such applications will, in the first instance, be considered by the Academic Director and are subject to final approval by the Adult Continuing Education Academic Standards Board
